Pope's Resignation
The Vatican is expected to announce former reality star, Jon Gosselin, as the new Pope in light of Pope Benedict XVI's resignation. He'll most likely use the moniker Pope John Paul III. It is believed Gosselin holds the most Catholic values closest to modern society.

Sit Down for Religious Freedom
Sit Down For Religious Freedom
I'm being sarcastic (I don't want to be scorned)--as I believe we should have some religious freedom as long as it doesn't intrude on personal freedoms. Religion as an institution has been notorious for trying to create an imbalance of human rights. The Catholic Church is against same-sex relations (human freedom), contraceptives (human freedom), women priests (human rights), and abortion (human freedom).
This isn't to say I don't believe in some of its teachings. I was raised Catholic, attended private schools, and went to mass every Sunday. Religion taught me a lot of positive values; however, I do not stand up when personal freedoms are prohibited. Religion taught me God accepts every one the way they are, but the people in charge of religion tell me this isn't true, and we all know the people in charge of religion have just as many flaws as the next person.
I am not gay, I am not a woman, and I don't believe in abortion, but I am accepting of these people. I see "Protect Religious Freedom" signs in front of churches, and want to put a sign next to it that reads "Protect Individual Freedom." No more hypocrisy. I think someday the church will modernize to be more accepting of its followers, and will look back on some of its teachings as prehistoric as it has done in the past... God bless.

The Church as a Business
The Church as a Business
If I start a new business it will probably be a church.
If you were donating $20 before, God would like you to increase it to $27 to $32 according to the "Guideline to Giving". If your previous contribution was $100, you're looking at $110 to $115. I ask God's blessing on each of you.
If I start a new business it will probably be a church.

Mother of Mercy High School's New Logo
Mother of Mercy High School's New Logo
Cincinnati, OH
Once again, I am not here to necessarily critique these designs. However, having seen the local billboards, I find a local newspaper's explanation of Mother of Mercy High School's new logo to be reaching somewhat far into the reader's imagination...
The new graphic maintains the traditional elements of Mercy's original logo but also reflects the school's scholarly achievement and a young women's journey with Christ to her future by incorporating a "movement" of blue ribbons that flow directly through the distinctive Mercy cross and into the the light.
"Our new logo allows us to better capture the excellence that is Mercy with our relentless attention on individual excellence, as well as the amazing strides we are making toward our Vision for the future."
Did you get all of that out of this new mark? Distinctive Mercy cross... reflects a journey with Christ... Opinions?
The one element I will comment on, and that is the faded gradient to white. From design experience (Beacon Orthopedics) I have never enjoyed gradients incorporated in a logo. In the future, when designers try to use color backgrounds with the logo they will have to come up with solutions like an outer glow, white box, or a different fade color if they want the piece to look correct and professional.

Signs We've Seen (a lot)
I cringe every time I see one of these "clever" quotes direct from the mouth of God. Enough already!
