The Sketchpad - WordPress

The Sketchpad is now available at Wordpress.

Update 04.02.12
I do not want the confusion of an exact duplicate of the same blog, so I am removing The Sketchpad at WordPress.

End Piracy, Not Liberty

Tell Congress: Don’t censor the Web
Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. There’s no need to make American social networks, blogs and search engines censor the Internet or undermine the existing laws that have enabled the Web to thrive, creating millions of U.S. jobs.

Too much is at stake – please vote NO on PIPA and SOPA.

I guess I shouldn't assume I was the only one capturing websites. All the images below are ones I found and created, but check out the collection PC Magazine collected. [VIEW GALLERY]

Is It Old?

Is It Old?

Everyone likes to share interesting links. Sometimes I see a span of a month between one person posting an amusing link and another. On Facebook, I often see people late to the game, and it doesn't even seem relevant to still share the link since everyone has seen it.

There's a site I saw in Time that tries to address this issue. I haven't really tried it out because I don't share much outside content, but if you do please let me know about your experience.

I tested it on a site and a sub-site  I've seen a hundred times titled, "Two Lesbians Raised A Baby And This Is What They Got." It's a good story.

Zach Wahls
The result of the site at IsItOld.com told me it was ridiculously old. It also stated, "This is starting to seriously smell. Watch it and move on. It has been tweeted 1668 times already, and the first time was 283 days ago."

The result of the sub-site at IsItOld.com told me it was old. "Yikes. Looks like the 60 plussers are your audience for this one. It has been tweeted 19625 times already, and the first time was 2 days ago."

Alexa Meade photos imitate paintings

Alexa Meade photos imitate paintings

Jaimie, Alexa Meade

Artist Alexa Meade, who lives and works in Washington, D.C., creates photographs that could easily be mistaken for paintings. However, as she explains, "Instead of painting a picture on a two dimensional canvas, I paint directly on top of my subjects in three dimensional space. The photographs of the painted scenes look like flat paintings without the assistance of Photoshop or digital manipulation."

“This shot was taken during our family tour [of] Iceland. The waterfall is called Seljalandsfoss. During this trip we used a motor home, so we camped about 500 meters from the [beautiful] waterfall. Before our dinner at 10 p.m., I took this image with the sunset colors.” Cast your vote and weigh in on the best shots at http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/voting-machine.
