2012 Opening Day

Since I posted an image from Opening Day 2011, I realize I have been doing The Sketchpad blog for over a year. Time flies.
Red Schedule's contrast almost looks fake on my old radio

Barry Larkin

Barry Larkin
Growing up my two favorite players were Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Larkin. It was awesome to hear Barry Larkin was elected into baseball's Hall of Fame today. All this talk of Larkin has me missing watching him play. He always came through in the clutch, had great speed, and was a defensive genius.

Barry Larkin (love that swing)

Jeff Brantley Fried Chicken

Jeff Brantley post-game fried chicken
I love listening to The Cowboy, Jeff Brantley, talk about food on the radio. He could go on for hours talking about ice cream, smoked meats, and fried chicken.

Q: Who had the most 30 homerun season while playing with the Reds?

A: Frank Robinson

Cincinnati

Cincinnati will never have a Times Square or Central Park, but the city's image and urban planning are improving drastically as highlighted by this Sunday's Cincinnati Enquirer. Cincinnati's downtown is once again becoming a place to shop, gather, eat, and enjoy the arts. This, in large part, is thanks to young, eager, charismatic business owners, artists, planners and architects.

It's nice to see the resurgence and additions of restaurants, condos, the Horseshoe Casino, Fountain Square and riverfront development, featuring The Banks. Time will dictate their successes, but things are definitely looking up.

Image is one thing--we must continue to improve racial/class relations, housing and employment. But, so does everywhere else. This is a fun and exciting to be a Cincinnatian.

Times Square is the happening place to be; Cincinnati is getting there.
