Fold-up car of the future unveiled for Europe

[READ FULL AFP Article]

The "Hiriko," the Basque word for "urban," is an electric two-seater with no doors whose motor is located in the wheels and which folds up like a child's collapsible buggy, or stroller, for easy parking.

(AFP Photo/Georges Gobet)

The vehicle's four wheels turn at right angles to facilitate sideways parking in tight spaces.
The backers describe the "Hiriko" project as a "European social innovation initiative offering a systematic solution to major societal challenges: urban transportation, pollution and job creation."

Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock

Today is Jackson Pollock's hundredth birthday. I expected the Google Doodle to be related, but they already did one for his 97th.

Largest Snowflake

Google Doodle

It's hard to imagine a snowstorm in which the snowflakes are more than a foot in diameter. But on Jan. 28, 1887, a snowflake observed in Fort Keogh, Mont., was logged at nearly 15 inches in diameter.

Blue Marble

I have an abundance of ideas, but haven't made the time to implement them. I usually send myself a text message to remind me to work on them, so I'm probably falling behind.

In other news, NASA released the most high-def satellite images of Earth yet -- Blue Marble 2012.

More Butter

Diabetes is not a funny condition, but there is a lot of contradiction/irony going on with the Paula Deen situation.

Angry diabetics are calling celebrity chef Paula Deen a hypocrite, both for hiding her disease while promoting fatty, sugar-heavy foods and for partnering with a drug company that provides relief for diabetics.

End Piracy, Not Liberty

Tell Congress: Don’t censor the Web
Fighting online piracy is important. The most effective way to shut down pirate websites is through targeted legislation that cuts off their funding. There’s no need to make American social networks, blogs and search engines censor the Internet or undermine the existing laws that have enabled the Web to thrive, creating millions of U.S. jobs.

Too much is at stake – please vote NO on PIPA and SOPA.

Twinkies maker Hostess seeks bankruptcy protection
[READ ARTICLE]

As a kid, me and my mom would sometimes go to the local Hostess store to get some produce, bread, and a box of Hostess snacks. It eventually shut down, followed by the other location, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2004, changed its name to Hostess Brands in 2009, and now filed for bankruptcy once again early in 2012.

Supposedly Twinkies last forever, so hold on to them like gold to see if their value increases over time because Hostess profits sure need to...

The Human Zoo

Outrage over 'human zoo' on Indian islands
[Read Article]

Howard Finster's artwork
The headline of this article stood out to me because I did a piece back in high school titled the "The Human Zoo" based on Howard Finster's artistic folk art style. My piece was based upon my belief that humans are still primal in their nature. In our history we have enslaved and demeaned people based upon gender and race. Yet, we considered ourselves just, civilized and intelligent beings.

Even today some try to hold others in a metaphorical cage based on sexuality, religion, and lifestyle choices.

If I can find the piece (which wasn't anything spectacular), I'll post it later. I later wrote a song of the same name.

2013 Ford Fusion

2013 Ford Fusion

It's Auto Show time, and Ford unveiled an electric Fusion capable of achieving 100 mpg. I'm a satisfied current model driver. The new Ford looks more masculine, and is a little reminiscent to the much more expensive Aston Martin Brand.

Growing up my two favorite players were Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Larkin. It was awesome to hear Barry Larkin was elected into baseball's Hall of Fame today. All this talk of Larkin has me missing watching him play. He always came through in the clutch, had great speed, and was a defensive genius.

5 High-Paying Jobs Without a Grade School Degree

5 High-Paying Jobs Without a Grade School Education
Highest Earners Make Millions
William D. SIEMER II

Lab Rat

Always wanted a career in Science without having to go through all the boring grade school labs? Then, you should be a lab rat. Donate your plasma, participate in studies, and test new products. While the per session rates are not the highest, there are plenty of options to keep the income flowing.

Bank Robber

Adventurous? Daring? Give yourself a rush of adrenaline and loot by becoming a robber. The 1% do it every day. It may a high-risk job, but the rewards can be satisfying. Someone needs to keep the world on its toes, or we'll become too at ease.

Trust Fund / Inheritance Milker

Rich parents? Near death grandparents? Spend your career convincing them you are worthy of all their hard-earned money. Wipe grandma's butt, take out your parent's garbage, or make friends at the nursing home. You'll make others feel good, and yourself better.

Prostitution / Pimping

Selling your body for sex can keep a steady income pouring in, but the real money is in Pimping. You get to look like a jackass, make big bucks, court girls and do none of the dirty work. Downfalls to this industry can be STDs, jail, or even death, but the payout may have you retiring early.

Advanced Drug Dealer

While some drug dealers may need a Doctorate in Chemistry, the every day dealer doesn't need a minute of schooling. Imagine adding Dr. before your name--a Pharmacist giving people the drugs they want when they want them with a high markup.
